Batman Fights Orcs in Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

middle-earth-shadow-of-mordor-5

OK, so that title isn’t 100% percent accurate, but hear me out! If Batman were to have grown up in Middle Earth and gained ghost powers instead of martial arts training, and if he had no qualms with fatally stabbing his enemies, than the main character of Monlith’s next-gen action game might as well be the caped crusader. The combat shown in today’s trailer is reminiscent of Arkham Asylum to say the least, not that this is a bad thing when combined with a bit of Assassin’s Creed style maneuvering around the battlefield. Shadow of Mordor looks to take the best chunks out of the action games of last generation and throw them into a wholly original LOTR story, and in this early state, that certainly seems like a winning strategy

If nothing else, stuff like this proves that we still haven’t really begun the next generation yet. The procedurally generated missions on display, where your player character has a history with specific enemies in the world, that’s impressive. If that works, it goes beyond anything put into a AAA release today, and does a lot to mix up a genre that is set in its ways. The trailer is marked as “pre-alpha” footage, so anything is possible, but I have a good feeling about this one. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will be available sometime in 2014 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and PC.

Seriously? The first line of your article is enough to tell everyone how much of a shit writer you are. you are an asshole who puts an interesting title to a shit article to get hits on your page. fuck you now and in the year after.

You were really looking forward to Batman simply walking through Mordor, weren’t you?

  • never write a article again

100% agree with below comment, what crock of s***. f*** off back to mac donalds

    • http://www.dustintriplett.com/ Dustin Triplett

Your edgy misspelled words, grammatical errors, and self-censorship invalidates your opinion.

      • Brian Sleider

Yeh thats how you deal with criticism, dismiss it.

  • Manuel Granados

Looks a bit too much like Assassin’s Creed to me. Not that it’s bad, but not something I’d like to see in a LoTR game (then again, I don’t wanna see Peter Jackson do any other movie and he’s going to churn out another Hobbit one).
Of course I’ll reserve judgement until there’s more footage or a demo.
And so sad over the people who actually thought Batman would have been sent to Mordor.

  • Brian Sleider

“Shadow of Mordor’s combat is similar to Batman’s” Thats a non misleading title, but I doubt that would get you ANY hits at all. Shit article is shitty. I await your dismissive comment.

    • http://www.dustintriplett.com/ Dustin Triplett

Your title might not be misleading, but it sure is boring.

I’m not sure what you’re expecting to accomplish here. The title is a humorous take on the recently released gameplay video. It says what everyone thought the moment they saw the game in action. I wish it was more snappy, honestly, but I was too busy enjoying my McDouble to bother coming up with one.

There’s a million sites that put personality, humor, and their opinions into their titles. There’s also a million others that don’t. This website isn’t custom-tailored to your personal preference.

There’s a difference between dismissing and simply not caring about the opinions of those cursing at a writer and content because they disagree.

      • Brian Sleider

Judging from the other comments I would say most people do not like your “please click me” title.

Luckily I can filter out this site to avoid waste of time articles.

        • http://www.dustintriplett.com/ Dustin Triplett

Well, when you put it like that…

        • NeedlerFanPudge

Again, it was not my intention, and I did apologize. However, you can’t please everybody, and I hope you can find a site that serves your needs. If you change your mind, we’ll still be here.

          • o3mta3o

Not that it matters but I don’t care that you used the title that you did. The article was alright and I think some people are just out to prove a point…. a point that will be promptly forgotten by all but them.

          • NeedlerFanPudge

            The support is appreciated :)

    • NeedlerFanPudge

Just to be clear, if I was attempting to trick people into thinking that Batman was in the game, I would have photoshopped a picture of Batman in Mordor. I sincerely apologize that the article’s title was misleading to you and several others. I thought it was funny, and I’m not going to just put up press releases or trailers when I post stuff. I’d much rather post something a little different than the countless other sites out there. But honestly, I had no money grubbing/ site view gaining intentions here, and I will try in the future to not post anything that might be misleading. I’m not making any promises, but I’ll try my best.

Words can’t even express how bad ass this game looks…

    • http://www.dustintriplett.com/ Dustin Triplett

It’s going to get a lot of flak for its obvious influences, but as far as I’m concerned it has a lot going for it. The best parts of the Assassin’s Creed and Arkham series in an original story set in the Lord of the Rings universe? Uh, yes please!

  • cocopuff

this has to be an April fools joke

  • LegendInMyMind

I’m gonna kinda have to side with the mod here. You nerds are taking sh!t WAAAYYYY too seriously. Did he kill your moms and rape your dogs or something? Chill the hell out.
