Nintendo Reveals Mega Charizard and Generation Transfer for Pokemon X and Y

ku-xlargeIt’s beautiful isn’t it? To the delight of ten year olds from the mid 1990s everywhere, Nintendo has revealed in the latest Pokemon Direct announcement that Charizard, the king of the Fire Blasts, the bad boy rebel of the Pokemon anime, the undisputed best fire starter (He’s not Fire/Fighting!), will be getting a Mega Evolution alongside his fellow Gen 1 Starters Venusaur and Blastoise.

ku-xlargeAlongside this information, Nintendo also confirmed that trainers will be able to transfer their older Pokemon into the newest generation, allowing for OG trainers to have a continuous Pokemon collection dating all the way back to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire on the Game Boy Advance. This will come as part of a separate 3DS application, Pokemon Bank, that will store collections that are too big to fit on one cartridge for an annual fee. I for one will gladly pay this fee so I don’t have to deal with Pokemon Farmhands or GBA to GCN transfer cables, but I’m sure I’m in the minority considering my collection has currently filled four DS carts worth of PC space.

Pokemon X and Y will be released on October 12th, 2013. I will return to the world of the living approximately one month from that time. Tell my family that I love them.
