Rose: Time Apart looks like an intriguing adventure game

Another week, another Kickstarter point-and-click adventure game project to discuss. This time, it’s also associated with Adventure Mod, like last week’sBolt Riley story, but this is only a partnership, not another game coming from them. Cellar Door Interactive is working with Adventure Mod to make their game, Rose: Time Apart, a Kickstarter success.

Rose: Time Apart is a game after my own heart. Beyond being a point-and-click adventure game, it claims to be a tribute to the kids in danger movies that made up so much of my childhood. Basically, you can reference The Goonies all you want. It’s a great movie, good for you. But if you reference The Monster Squad as your inspiration, I’m sold. It’s easily one of my favorite films and more people should take inspiration from it. If you haven’t seen The Monster Squad, watch it now dammit.

Watch the trailer, check out the Kickstarter page and see if Rose: Time Apart is for you. The spooky atmosphere and Myst gameplay vibe that it’s throwing off have intrigued me. Not to mention, it’s nice to see another Israeli development team. This indie movement has really brought some much needed worldly perspectives to game development.
