Some Xbox Ones Reported Leaking Oily Fluids

Xbox One Oil Leakage

A couple of Xbox One users have reported that their console has leaked a strange, oily liquid. This is believed to be caused by a strange hardware issue inside the system.

Fortunately, this problem has only been reported by two users out of the near two million consoles that have been sold since launch, which means this probably won’t turn into anything major at the moment.

For one user, the problem only showed up when he played the console for multiple hours without a break, so it is assumed that the problem could lie in the system’s thermal compound.

Microsoft has responded to GameSpot regarding the issue, claiming they haven’t seen any cases of Xbox One consoles leaking fluids.

While we have not seen any cases as described, we know that with a hardware launch of this magnitude customers will have questions, and we have many avenues for them to get the answers they need and get back into the game as soon as possible. Anyone who believes they are experiencing issues with their Xbox One should reach out to us. – Microsoft
